In no particular order here's a summary of observations we've made so far on this trip:

- The room TV channel options have mightily improved, not that we've availed ourselves of them much.

- The previous usual large in-room book of "stuff to do on Meeru" has been mostly displaced by the hotel dedicated TV channels. These contain much higher levels of useful info than they used to inc. details of such as the "dine around" menus.

- The new "dine around" option for AI Plus folk is definitely worth it if you have bought into the AI Plus package in our view.

- There are no Chinese groups of guests received on the island anymore. There are fewer Chinese food options in the main menus and what there is is no longer labelled in Chinese language(s). Not sure why that is, perhaps new Chinese dedicated resorts are online now? Whatever; it's just something we noticed.

- Baileys is included in AI we eventually noticed. Served with ice cubes, in this heat it just hits the spot Very Happy .

- On the non alcoholic front, and accepting your mileage may vary, we reckon Coconut Kiss mocktails easily beat the Fizzes we used to enjoy!

- The snack options around the pools are ace and easily make a mini-lunch if you're so inclined. You get lots and quality is great.

Onward with the research... Cool

Hi Rick.

Re: the new jetty. No, we don't think so. It's still a work in progress but work being done is not distracting.

There's no impact on enjoyment at the Dhoni bar or swimmers at the pool there.

Looks like things are still great in paradise. Just a quick question about AI or AI plus, is it an upgrade available only on the island? We booked AI, but didn't get an option of upgrade. Would hate to miss out on the chance to dine in the wok or rock for "free".

As far as I am aware there is only 1 level of All Inclusive which Meeru calls locally AI Plus.

The "Plus" thing is - I believe- a left over from history when they used to offer 2 levels of AI as well as Half board & Full board.

Nowadays you can stay at Meeru on Full Board or AI+ basis only. That's my understanding anyhow.

If you want to be 100% sure, check direct with the island by bowling an email to them at this email address: reservations@meeru.com

Indeed, AIP is the only AI offered now. So a lot of the agencies just call it AI.

Another minor query HJ if you don't mind....as repeaters we have been used to getting a half bottle of champagne on arrival and another one a couple of days or so later. When we were last on the island back in June there was some confusion about this although after a few conversations with Guest Services etc both were forthcoming. Do you know what's the score on this nowadays?

You get a half a bottle of champagne if you're on AI.

Sensibly, it's delivered to your room on the second evening of your stay, i.e when you've shaken off the travel tiredness and are in a better state to appreciate it.

Ours was Taittinger. Very nice too... Smile

When we arrived in September there was a fruit plate, chocolates plus a bottle of champagne in our villa, we then had another bottle delivered on our second night as per AI plan. Not sure why as we havenít had two bottles before but we werenít complaining Laughing Laughing

Champagne

I made the suggestion after our last trip that they didn't give you your AI champagne until u were in your designated room as we were moved after our first night and had to cart ours around with us
